For those of you who don’t already know me my name is Noel Kirkpatrick and I’m the person behind Mourne Way Apparel. A local active wear brand with a love for running and heavily influenced by our surroundings – The Kingdom of Mourne. This is our story so far….
My day job has seen me spend the last 15+ years working for the same company, sitting at a desk for 8 – 12 hours a day. While I like my day job, I’ve never felt passionate about it and as the years have went by the desire to create something I can call my own has grown and grown.
At the same time a feeling of frustration has also grown. Frustrated at not taking a chance and feeling unfulfilled. I also want to be able to provide a better life for my amazing wife (who is my biggest influence) and kids, and be someone they can be proud of.
Out of this Mourne Way Apparel was born in mid 2019. Through it I’ve been able to combine my interests in business, running and pursuing an active and healthy life. I’m fully aware that the active wear market is extremely competitive. I’m also under no illusions about how difficult it will be to establish Mourne Way Apparel as a leading active wear brand. With that said, I don’t intend to shy away from the challenge.
With our clothing and social media, we want to encourage everyone to be more active and live a less sedentary life. We believe that there’s a place in the UK and Irish market for an active wear brand that has a more local feel and a community focused approach. One of our goals for 2020 is to have a consistent level of sales by the end of the year, which would allow us to donate, at different times throughout the year, to small charities who are vital to their local communities.
With each season of the year we intend to grow our product range. We currently have a selection of men’s and women’s training tops that can compete with any of the leading brands. We also launched our first men’s slim fit quarter zip tops recently, which after only one week (at the time of writing) are on the verge of selling out. We have more products planned for over the summer and then looking forward to the autumn and winter we’re working on a range of reflective running gear.
The amount of positive feedback we’ve got from our customers so far has exceeded all our expectations. We know we’re on the right road, but there’s many months and years of hard work ahead. Bring it on I say! I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Mourne Way Apparel!
